Senator Koehler accepts a ceremonial pen from Governor Pat Quinn as he signs into law Senate Bill 1906. Senator Koehler was the chief sponsor of the bill which will make available an extra $300 million in funding for renewable energy or clean coal projects in Illinois.




Senator Koehler addresses the crowd in Canton at the groundbreaking for Rebuilding Downtown. Students from Canton High School (pictured behind Sen. Koehler) will work with members of West Central Illinois Building Trades as a new structure is built on the site in downtown Canton. The project was the result of collaboration between the City of Canton, West Central Illinois Building Trades, and the Illinois Department of Economic Opportunity.


Senator Koehler and Representative Mike Smith hosted a town hall meeting with constituents in Lewistown at the Park District Community Center. The meeting, held on July 7, provided an opportunity for constituents to share their concerns about state government with their local elected officials.


Senator Koehler was on hand at the future site of Biofuels Manufacturers of Illinois in Mapleton where the first harvest of pennycress took place. The seeds from the pennycress plant will be pressed and made into biodiesel at the facility.
